“Over the last three years, Prime Video has become an important part of Prime,” Amazon said in the email. “It’s important that the streaming media players we sell interact well with Prime Video in order to avoid customer confusion.”

Amazon says that the cause of the removal of the Apple TV and the Google Chromecast is their incompatibility with its Prime Video service. While other streaming devices like Roku, Playstation and Xbox all are compatible with the Prime Video, hence they are allowed to be sold through the online store.

Apple has already planned to launch the new fourth generation of Apple TV Set-top-box this fall. It means that Apple customers won't be able to buy the upcoming fourth generation of Apple TV via Amazon. And the step taken by Amazon suggests that the online retailer has no plans of bringing its Prime Video service to the upcoming Apple TV.
