Barclays to start supporting Apple Pay in United Kingdom from early next year


Back in July Apple launched Apple Pay in United Kingdom at more than 250,000 locations across England, Scotland, Nothern Ireland and Wales many banks supported Apple Pay but Barclays remain in list of Banks that didn't support Apple Pay.

But Barclays committed the Bank will Support the mobile payment system in future, Barclay's CEO of Personal and Corporate Banking Ashok Vaswani told a customer by email that Bank will start supporting Apple Pay in early 2016.

"We have signed up for ApplePay and will launch it very early in the New Year. We truly value your custom and hope that you continue to bank with us particularly since we are launching this shortly"

An high-level executive at Barclays claimed that the Bank will anticipate "imminent" support for Apple Pay and then the Bank officially confirmed that it will support Apple Pay soon, But didn't gave any date of launch.

Barclays is one of the four big Banks of United Kingdom who is adopting Apple Pay. Banks that are already supporting Apple Pay include Bank of Scotland, First Direct, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds Bank, M&S Bank, MBNA, Nationwide, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Ulster Bank.
