iPad Pro gets 3D touch feature through Apple Pencil pressure, iOS 9 Hack

 A well known developer Hamza Sood hacked the iOS 9 to enable 3D Touch feature on iPad Pro with the pressure sensitive sensor of Apple Pencil by combining relevant iOS codes through jailbreak. Hack convert all Apple Pencil pressure data into data for 3D interaction. 3D Touch is exclusive to iPhone 6s and none of the other device support 3D Touch functionality including Apple's latest large Tablet. Apple Pencil's Pressure data is only used for drawing and sketching purpose.

 Hamza Sood managed to do it because Apple Pencil sends pressure data back to the system, which helps in increasing width when drawing or sketching. The pressure sensitive sensor is integrated into the Apple Pencil, not in the iPad Pro. The hack converts the Pressure force into the usable numbers and the numbers are used for 3D Touch's Peak and Pop feature.

It seems that Apple doesn't want iPad Pro users to use Apple Pencil just for drawing or sketching not as a stylus. They don't want users to use 3D through Apple Pencil even if it is possible, Apple is not bringing this feature because of marketing reasons.

Apple provides temporary fix for iPad Pro unresponsiveness after charging


Soon after the launch of the iPad Pro, it came into our knowledge that the iPad Pro becomes unresponsive after charging for a long period of time requiring to do a hard reset to get the tablet back to work.

 According to Apple:
"To get back to using your iPad Pro, force restart it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo. 
Apple is aware of this issue and is investigating."
It looks like after charging the iPad Pro for long time, it becomes unresponsive to all kinds of touch or interactions and the screen remains dark no matter what, unless you do a hard reset. 

 Both 32GB and 128GB (Wi-Fi and LTE) variants of the iPad Pro running iOS 9.1 seems to be affected by the issue. It is not certain if the problem is related to hardware or software.

iPad mini 4 has best Display ever, iPad Pro and iPad Air 2 displays are not bad


DisplayMate Technologies compared the displays of the latest iPad lineup including the recently Launched iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 to find how each iPad perform against each other. But unexpectedly iPad mini 4 outperformed the most advanced iPad Pro and iPad Air 2 in display quality in lab tests by DisplayMate.

DisplayMate says "unquestionably the best and most accurate LCD tablet display we've ever tested" giving it the higher marks than the iPad Pro with the resolution of 2732 x 2048. iPad Pro didn't perform bad and got nearly excellent marks. iPad Air 2 was also good and considered in top level displays, but its was less than iPad mini 4 and iPad Pro and it's obvious as its was a 2014 launch and yet it's not updated from Apple.

Apple has used same IPS LCD technology in it's all tablet lineup, iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro uses the Photo aligned LCDs that supports higher contrast ratios while iPad mini 4 uses the standard mechanical alignment. The iPad Pro display also includes a metal oxide TFT backplane for better light throughput and power efficiency, otherwise there will be a battery life issue with such big display.

All the iPads have nearly same maximum brightness, but on the maximum contrast ratio in brightest white and darkest black is overwhelmingly true on all the iPads, but best on the iPad Pro. iPad mini 4 has the True Contrast Ratio of 967, the iPad Air 2 has the True contrast ratio of 1,064 and the iPad Pro has the true contrast ratio of 1,631 which is highest contrast ratio ever seen on an LCD tablet display.

iPad mini 4 has the best color gamut with the score of 101 percent while iPad Air 2 stood on the second position by scoring 105 percent and throwing the iPad Pro on the Last  with the score of 107 color gamut while 100 percent is the best and most accurate color gamut. On color accuracy, different was not big and iPad Pro and iPad Air was also good although iPad mini won the test.

But heading to the Screen reflectance, DisplayMate declared that all the three iPads are unbeatable for performance in ambient light. iPad mini 4 has the most less reflection, but the other two were also too close. But on measuring contrast in ambient light iPad Mini 4 again won the battle with the score of 225, iPad Air 2 scored 166 and iPad Pro scored 163.

iPad Pro's display remained most power efficient display due to the metal oxide backplane while iPad mini 4 won the title of best iPad Display ever from DisplayMate.

iPad Pro supports USB 3.0 transfer speed through Lightning Port


The all new 12.9-inch iPad Pro supports USB 3.0 transfer speed through modified lightning Port. iFixit discovered a Fresco Logic FL1100 4-Port USB 3.0 host controller which indicates USB 3.0 file transfer speed.

 Many reviewers mentioned that iPad Pro will support USB 3.0 speed with upcoming adapters or accessories. But today iFixit confirmed that Apple's new large screen tablet is capable of transferring data at the speed of USB 3.0.

 USB 3.0 transferring speed is a huge difference from previous lightning ports on the iPads and iPhones. The previously lightning port can transfer data at the rate of 25 to 35MB/s which is no more than a normal USB 2.0. But with the all new USB 3.0 speed iPad Pro is capable of transferring data at the rate of up to 625MB/s. USB 3.0 speed support was rumored a long ago to arrive in all Apple device, but now in iPad Pro we can see it in action.

A new report says new upcoming adapter will enable users to transfer data at the speed of USB 3.0, but the release date is not mentioned. Apple can also release new lightning cables that would be capable of transferring data at the speed of USB 3.0, but it's still not clear.

iPad Pro Teardown reveals large speakers, Empty place and 5K iMac like LCD timing controller


Just like always, iFixit gave iPad Pro teardown treatment providing the detail of iPad Pro hardware. According to iFixit, most of the iPad Pro internals are similar to iPad Air 2, Some differences include brand new loud Four-speaker audio setup.

Speaker drivers are sitting on each of the corners next to a capped resonance chamber. The identical design of speakers helps in shifting the function of the speakers depending upon the orientation of the device. Top speakers are build to produce high frequencies and bottom speakers produces low frequencies. Uncapping the volume chamber, which give iPad Pro's speakers 61 percent more back volume than the iPad Air 2. Carbon fiber caps filled with foams are used to amplify the sound. iFixit observed that the speakers are taking a lot of space that could have used for accommodating battery to increase the capacity by 50 percent. Previous iPads never used Premium speakers like iPad Pro uses, so the speakers also don't take a lot of space.

iFixit find Logic Board in the center of the body which used to be in the side of the body in previous iPads. Logic board also has shielding which had to be removed before reaching the Logic board, Previous iPads had no shielding on the logic board.

 iFixit found that iPad Pro uses DP695 Timing control which is almost similar to the timing controller used in the 5K Retina iMac, But the timing controller is modified to better use display refresh rate. They also found iPad Pro batteries easier to remove as they have adhesive pull tabs under the battery.

 Reaching to the parts which matters most, iFixit told that iPad Pro's carries 4GB of RAM, a 2.25GHz  Dual Core A9X processor and 10307 mAh battery which gives 10 hours of battery life to iPad Pro.

 iFixit has given iPad Pro 3 out of 10 in repairability score section. The iPad issue is that iPad Pro uses a lot of adhesive in order to pack device compactly and the adhesive has always noticed to be against repairability. but iFixit tells Smart connector will never fail as it is not based on any moving parts but although it's virtually impossible to replace.

iPad Pro tops benchmarks, crushes the competition

Yes! You read that right!. The iPad Pro is not only the most powerful iPad it's certainly the most powerful tablet on the planet. Apparently, when it comes to benchmarks no comes near the scores of the iPad Pro, not even the previous iPad Air 2. 

 The iPad Pro scores 3233 while the iPad Air scores 1831 in Geekbench Single-Core test. The iPhones 6s got a score of 2537 in the single-core test.

The iPad Air 2 A8X chip has three CPU cores clocked at 1.84GHz while on the other side the iPad Pro only has two cores clocked at 2.25GHz. But still the iPad Pro managed to beat the three core iPad Air 2 in Multi-Core Geekbench test results.
Literally, in benchmarks the iPhone 6S performance comes close to the performance of the iPad Pro, but due to the larger casing of the iPad Pro of the it gives it much more room for keeping the CPU at a cool level. Moreover, the A9X chipset of the iPhone 6s can’t hold its maximum clock-speed for a long time without throttling but the iPad Pro's chipset can maintain that for long periods of time.

Today, Apple's CEO Tim Cook told The Telegraph that how will the iPad Pro serve as a replacement for PC and how tablets nowadays are changing the PC market.

"I think if you're looking at a PC, why would you buy a PC anymore? No really, why would you buy one?" [...] 
"Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones." said Tim Cook.
The Cupertino company CEO further said that due to iPad Pro's unique features like the great sound system and the Apple Pencil it will surely gain the attention of a lot of artists and other related folks.

Speaking about the new Apple TV, Tim Cook said that the Apple TV sales were "very strong". He also said that the Apple Watch sales will "set a new record this quarter".Tim Cook said that Apple doesn't have any intention of releasing health-related features and the sensor that would cause the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) to get associated with the gadget. But he didn't say that the company doesn't have any plans of introducing health related apps that would require FDA approval.

"We don't want to put the watch through the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) process. I wouldn't mind putting something adjacent to the watch through it, but not the watch, because it would hold us back from innovating too much, the cycles are too long. But you can begin to envision other things that might be adjacent to it -- maybe an app, maybe something else."
 The iPad Pro will go on sale in online stores on Wednesday, November 11.The iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 32GB variant, the 128GB WiFi only variant costs $949 and the iPad Pro 128GB configuration with WiFi + LTE costs $1079. The Apple Pencil costs an additional $99 and the Apple Smart Keyboard is priced at $169.

Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Apple software and services, made a surprise appearance for an interview with the CEO of Dropbox Drew Houston on the stage of the Dropbox Open Conference. There he talked about the Cupertino company's enterprise efforts and demoed the upcoming iPad Pro.

 Apple exec Eddy Cue said that the success of Apple in enterprise section is actually an evolution of Apple's success in the consumer area, as it linked the devices used at work and the devices used at home. He went further mentioning that those things which are important to customers are important to enterprise too.

"We've always been a consumer company. We've been trying to create products for individuals and part of that was creating a product that had tools that allowed people to do things with them that we could never even imagine. And what's happened is if you look at the world today you work 24 by 7. 
You're awake, you take it home with you, you take it everywhere. There's no longer the "enterprise" in the sense of the products you use there that you don't use somewhere else. Now you get to use the products everywhere."
Eddy Cue was optimistic about the utility of the iPad in terms of enterprise, considering the fact that the executives and managers have started adopting the tablet: 

"As a result, board meetings changed and executives started to swap documents via their iPads. Eventually with business management teams becoming more comfortable using iPads themselves, they started to introduce them to other workers."
And meanwhile several analysts believe that Apple is still far away from becoming a big enterprise player, Apple SVP said that "businesses are still in the early stage of adopting mobile technology, that's an area Apple can capitalize on".

Moreover, Eddy Cue also showed the upcoming iPad Pro during the interview. He said that Apple has a "big opportunity" to gain increase in the enterprise after the launch of the iPad Pro. The Apple exec at one point during the interview pulled out the iPad Pro and showed it to the cloud storage company's CEO Drew Houston and asked the audience to look under their chairs just to see there nothing under their chairs.

Speaking about the iPad Pro, Drew Houston said Dropbox’s upcoming Paper app, which cloud storage company's CEO says is the Dropbox's iPad Pro focused editing tool. Dropbox is said to launch its Paper app in the first quarter of 2016.

At the beginning of the interview, Drew Houston said he desperate get an iPad Pro, Eddy Cue replied, "Only a few more days," probably indicating that the iPad Pro is very close to its launch. According to latest rumors, the iPad Pro will reach the stores by November 11, but it's also feasible that Apple could accept pre-orders before the rumored November 11 launch date.

iPad Pro Hands-on:ideal for productivity, Apple Pencil is awesome but the smart keyboard is a bit fiddly


iPad Pro launch is very close and the technology and education expert Fraser Speirs attended a event in London yesterday and got his hands-on the new iPad Pro for nearly one hour and he shared his thoughts from the hands-on session of new iPad Pro and its accessories and answered questions on twitter from user's perspective.

 Speirs was impressed with iPad Pro finding its ideal for productivity tasks and noted the iPad Pro is bigger but it is Similar to iPad Air 2 but it feels little more professional. Photos and media are fantastic on it. Multitasking of iPad Pro feels a whole different thing just like two iPad Air 2 side-by-side. It makes it great for work and creativity.

 Speirs find it hard to use for simpler tasks like browsing and netflix. In routine uses iPad Pro increased size and weight is not much beneficial.Speirs find iPad Pro not comfortable for reading but perfect for work.

Speirs called Apple Pencil extremely impressive, says Apple Pencil is the best iPad stylus i have ever used and Palm rejection is nearly perfect and it is the best i have ever seen on any iOS and provides smooth drawing and writing experience.

 Speirs was a little unhappy with the iPad Pro's smart keyboard because of its size and complexity but said "decent enough".

iOS 9 tells that iPad Pro will have screen resolution of 2732x2048




Yesterday a Keyboard that support iPad Pro screen was discovered in iOS 9,  aSteve Troughton Smith and Hiraku Wang today discovered another file that says the iPad Pro will reflect a resolution of 2732x2048 and it will feature a12.93-inches of display with263 pixels per inch.

The  iPad Air 2 has a resolution of 2048x1536 at 9.7 inches. According to this iPad Pro will have width equal to iPad Po.With newly launched Split-screen and Slide-Over functionality will make a superb combination with large size iPad Pro.

The new keyboard, which was formerly brought to public shows the capability to rearrange itself at a bigger resolution with the addition of a new row of symbols and characters.

 Apple could release its rumored iPad Pro later this year. The device will support keyboard with USB devices, it might be in the form of USB-C. It has also been anticipated that Apple will be making many kinds of optimizations to iOS for the iPad Pro with the inclusion of the ability of addition of support for multiple users.Also it has been heard that the device will reflect a feature of stereo speakers which is quite Awesome.
