Faceook updated iOS App to fix battery drain issue


Few days ago facebook iOS App users encountered a battery drain issue which started eating a lot of battery life even when the backgound App refresh was toggled off, but not any more. Facebook today updated its iOS app which fixes the battery drain issue with other improvments.

 While Facebook didn't mention its battery drain issue fix in the update notes, while Tech Crunch noticeted the Facebook engineering manager Ari Grant's post on facebook about the fix and the reason behind it. Grant told that there were several factor which lead to the battery drain issue including a "CPU Spin" in code network and silent background audio session which kept the app awake even when it wasn't open.

 Fedirico vittci from Macstories stated that the issue is because the silent audio in the background and today it turned out to be correct.

 Tech Crunch's Matthew Panizaron also suggested that Facebook's use of silent audio in background may be done on a purpose but Facebook says it was a unintentional bug.

 Grant says the the Facebook iOS App has been fixed both the issue which were causing battery drain and users will no more face the issue and Facebook is still working to make app even more battery friendly.

Facebook is working to solve iOS app battery drain issue


Facebook today showed that they are aware of iOS app battery drain issue, the issue was raised by some Facebook users who suffered from this issue and reported it to Facebook and battery drains very fast even when the App is opened in the background, Facebook told TechCrunch about its awareness regarding the battery drain issue and promised to fix it soon.

 Many Facebook users are facing this issue from last week, and posted images showing Facebook App weight on Battery, even when the app is in the background and even when the background app refresh is off.

 It is assumed yet that the cause for Facebook app to drink a lot battery is the bug that could be silent audio emanating from the service's auto-playing videos. Most of people don't care about Auto-play and never turn it off and there is a bug that is over eating battery.

Turning off Auto-play can be the fix but facebook does not confirmed this bug yet but the fix will be out soon.

Apple's CEO Tim Cook emphasizes the Importance of Privacy,Encryption and pokes Google and Facebook in speech at Champions of Freedom Event

Apple CEO Tim Cook was invited at the Champions of Freedom Awards Dinner, which was organized by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) in Washington yesterday, where he got the opportunity to give a speech about privacy and encryption, he also jabbed how the way some Silicon Valley companies manage their customers data.

 As reported by our source, In the beginning of the speech, Tim Cook talked about the right of people to privacy:
"Like many of you, we at Apple reject the idea that our customers should have to make tradeoffs between privacy and security," Cook opened. "We can, and we must provide both in equal measure. We believe that people have a fundamental right to privacy. The American people demands it, the constitution demands it, morality demands it."
Tim Cook was very hurtful to see how some 'unnamed' Silicon Valley companies manage their customers data and use it for monetization purposes. Tim Cook didn't mention the name of Facebook and Google specifically but it's very easy to guess their names in the lines:
"We believe the customer should be in control of their own information. You might like these so-called free services, but we don't think they're worth having your email, your search history and now even your family photos data mined and sold off for god knows what advertising purpose. And we think some day, customers will see this for what it is."
"They're gobbling up everything they can learn about you and trying to monetize it, We think that's wrong. And it's not the kind of company that Apple wants to be." 
 While ending his speech, Tim Cook spoke about encryption, sharing the company's views on the topic of odds with the government:
"We think this is incredibly dangerous. We've been offering encryption tools in our products for years, and we're going to stay on that path. We think it's a critical feature for our customers who want to keep their data secure. For years we've offered encryption services like iMessage and FaceTime because we believe the contents of your text messages and your video chats is none of our business."
Judging him by his efforts,Tim Cook appears to be very serious about its users privacy and keeping their data secure.
